Newquay Landmarks and Newquay Monuments
(Newquay, Cornwall, England, UK)
Apart from its numerous natural landmarks around the coastline, Newquay is home to a number of notable and rather imposing structures. Much of life in Newquay is based around its prominent harbour, which is often bustling with activity when the fishing boats arrive.
One of the most historical landmarks in the Newquay area is the Trerice manor house at Kestle Mill, where many authentic period features and landscaped gardens await. Many local landmarks and important buildings can be explored along the two Newquay Discovery Trails, both of which provide a real insight into the town. Here are Newquay's main landmarks and monuments.
Newquay Landmarks and Monuments: Harbour - Newquay, Cornwall, England, UK
There is always something going on around Newquay Harbour during the summer months, and this historic landmark has been responsible for much of the town's wealth over the years. Still a working harbour today, the north and south quays boast plenty of seating, where you are able to relax and enjoy the scenery. If you arrive when the tide is in, you will often be able to watch the local fishing boats unloading their latest catch, which often includes lobsters and large crabs. Hourly boat trips are available, together with longer fishing excursions, all of which can be booked at the kiosk close to the south quay.

There are two separate 'Discovery Trails' at Newquay, with the Key Stone on the Killacourt providing the starting point for both. A shorter 'history trail' takes in many interesting sights and old landmarks around the town of Newquay, while the 'myths and legends trail' is considerably longer and heads off in a northerly direction, passing the Barrowfields and Gannel Estuary along the way. Maps of the routes are available at the Newquay Tourist Information Centre at Marcus Hill.
